The Billings Symphony is accepting applications for Assistant Principal Bass, Principal Tuba, Third Flute/Piccolo, section strings (both tenured and intern). Auditions for these positions will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
Prescreening is not required for these live auditions. Candidates must instead register with the link immediately below no later than 5:00 PM MDT, Friday, April 11, 2025. A PDF packet with all excerpts will be sent upon registration.

2025–2026 PER SERVICE RATES: Principal: $99.00 | Assistant Principal: $91.00 | Section Musician $79.00 | Intern Musician $55.00
MILEAGE: Mileage is reimbursed at $0.56 per mile, per vehicle, for round trip travel of 60 miles or more, with a maximum of $550 per vehicle per concert. Mileage will be limited to one round trip for concert sets where there is no day off, or gap day, between services. For concert sets where there is a day off or gap day between services, an additional round trip will be reimbursed.
AIR TRAVEL: Musicians who travel by air will be reimbursed for up to $550 of their air travel costs, limited to an airplane ticket, baggage checking fees, and costs related to travel to the airport of departure (rideshare/taxi to or parking at the departure airport). Musicians may submit air travel receipts for reimbursement immediately after purchase of airplane ticket and before travel. Billings Symphony will reimburse airline ticket costs within three weeks of receipt of itinerary/travel receipt. Musicians retain all frequent flyer miles accrued.
HOUSING: Home stays constitute the majority of housing arrangements for out-of-town Musicians. Billings Symphony occasionally offers double-occupancy hotel rooms with another Musician. Musicians who decline offered housing may obtain through the Billings Symphony, if available, a discounted hotel rate to be booked and paid for by the Musician.
